It's my life

I want to spread my wings and fly.. Glide above the oceans.. View the world from above and laugh at all the stupidity beneath me.. I just wish.. Sometimes... When I have the time...

Universeum, Gothenburg (31/3/07)

Dom came by to Gothenburg for a visit on 29 March and so, as mentioned earlier, I was her tour guide here! The Universeum here is a famous touristy place, and so, we paid for the visit like all tourists do. Haha.. Costs 135SEK (S$30) per person, but I think the nature section is worth every cent of it all. The science part was a huge disappointment though.

The nature part was quite big. It includes the ocean zone where we got to see frogs, crabs, sharks, sting rays, etc, machiam HK's Ocean Park minus the amusement rides. Nice.. I like.. Hurhur..

After the ocean zone, we were led to the man-made rainforest in the building. Well, the environment is simulated to be like a rainforest with proper temperature and humidity settings. It was only then that Dom and I realised how dead we will be when we go back to Singapore. Haha.. It was FREAKING HOT in the rainforest section! Die lah.. Temperature is like 24 degrees lor.. Go back really dunno how liao.. Everyday nuah in library.. Hahaha...

Yup, so in the rainforest section, the monkeys and birds are the highlights. Monkeys are really cute! They are so small but so naughty. Haha.. Can't get a good picture of them though, cos they move around very fast and I can't use flash, which means slow shutter if you understand what it means. Anyway, there are no fence or anything between the monkeys and us, but there is a "zookeeper" to "guard" the monkeys and make sure they stay within their compound. She does this using a water spray so when the monkey get naughty and come near to our paths, she will spray water on their legs. The monkeys will then move back inwards as they won't want to get wet. Also, the "zookeeper" says that the monkey have no direct physical contact with humans and are trained to catch their own food as they don't want to tame them. So the insects are brought into the rainforest and spread evenly around, so the monkeys have to catch their own insects to eat, without anyone feeding or touching them.

After visiting the nature part, we were both famished and so we headed to the touristy cafe at the lobby for an expensive lunch. Luckily for us, they had a salad buffet with every hot dish. So, we just ordered one hot dish and filled our stomachs with the salad. Haha.. Typical Singaporeans hor?

And so, we proceeded on to the Science part of the Universeum. Typical things that you would see in Singapore's Science Centre ba.. One of the more known ones would then be that mirror which elongates or fattens you up. Well, at least there was one interesting thing there.. the most relaxed competition! Haha.. See the 2nd picture below that shows 2 people with head straps? They have this brainwave sensor attached to the headstrap which is able to detect how relaxed you are. There is a small ball on the table which rolls towards the person who is most relaxed and when the ball touches a line on either side, the person wins! I played with Dom twice and I won both times very quickly! Hahaha.. She's no match for my relaxed mood. Hahahaha...

Last but not least, there was also this space game in the Science section which Dom and I did not get to play initially as it was quite popular. But, we still managed to play when we were about to leave. Anyway, I think we both sucked at the game. Hahah.. Cannot live in a virtual environment.

Ok, The End. Next stop: Vrångö, one of the Southern islands belonging to Gothenburg. We also went to the World Culture Museum here but I did not take very many photos and I think there isn't much to show so I've decided not to blog about it. Hehe.. Will blog about Vrångö next!
