11/4/07 - 13/4/07 : Warsaw, Poland
So we left the unhappy land of Krakow and reached Warsaw by train. And our first stop (besides our hostel) is... KFC!! Haha.. Deprived Singaporeans. When we reached the hostel, we actually asked the receptionists where can we find the nearest KFC and they were so amused as no one has asked them about KFC before. Most people asked about Polish cuisine, which is normal I guess. Why do you think we are so deprived? Cos Sweden has NO fried food!!! Sad right? Haha.. Healthy lifestyle I guess.

Having filled our grumbling stomach with Singapore priced KFC, we proceed to walk around the town area of Warsaw. Later, we found ourselves at the clock tower and decided to go in.

So we took the lift up and took in the view.

There was this fake radio and TV broadcasting station below the viewing level and so we went to play as well. However, we were a little late and they were closing already. Thus, we only managed to be fake news casters and not DJs. Hehe..

Having concluded that Poland is not a very friendly place to be in. We are usually back at the hostel before dark. Luckily, Okie Dokie Hostel has games which we can borrow. Therefore, we played Monopoly and another more intellectual game which I had forgotten the name.

A typical road sign in Warsaw. Notice the small signs below showing the directions of the miscellaneous stuff like toilets and telephone booths.

And we went to see the mermaid statue.

This is the oldest building in Warsaw. I think the receptionist at the hostel said that it was the only one which survived the war as Poland was the greatest hit during WWII. So all the buildings in Warsaw are actually quite new, at most about 50+ years old.

Being typical tourists, we had to visit the Royal Palace. According to TY and P, the palace is not as grand as the palaces in other parts of Europe which they have visited. This palace building is new too. It was re-constructed after the war, according to how it was supposed to look like before the war.

We also went to a church while we were in Warsaw. I think most churches look alike so I also don't know what else to comment. It is beautiful, like most churches in the world.

Hmm.. I guess that's all for our Warsaw trip. Basically we were still quite affected by what happened in Krakow so we didn't manage to really enjoy Warsaw. And everywhere we went, people were staring at us like they've never seen anyone with black hair before. Anyway, we were more than happy to board Skyeurope to our next stop, Budapest in Hungary!
