It's my life

I want to spread my wings and fly.. Glide above the oceans.. View the world from above and laugh at all the stupidity beneath me.. I just wish.. Sometimes... When I have the time...

2/5/07 - 4/5/07 : Edinburgh, Scotland

Right on next, I reached Edinburgh at 8am on 2/5/07 after a 9 hours bus ride on Megabus. Haha.. Poor Dom had to wake up so early to pick me up from the bus station. As I did not sleep well in the bus, I K.O.-ed on Dom's bed when I arrived. After I woke up, we had lunch at her place and toured a little of the city. Feel so touched-ed when Dom's friend, A, told me that she had specially gone for her groceries shopping the day before I arrived so that we will have enough food. Paiseh!

St. Giles Cathedral. Supposedly no photography, but we didn't see the notice! Haha.. And we were happily snapping away without anyone coming forward to stop us ma.

The Edinburgh Castle.

View from the castle.

We saw a guy in a Scottish skirt while we were walking down from the castle.

The Parliament building (I think). Haha.. Can't really remember liao. It seems so long ago probably due to my long week in school.

Shops along Princes Street.

A monument along Princes Street.

We walked around the gardens at Princes Street too. Took pictures of some pretty flowers in full bloom but I've decided not to display them here. Haha.. Anyway, we decided to just nua the time away so we grabbed a cup of coffee and went to the garden outside Dom's school to lie down and look at the sky.

Entrance of the library at Dom's school.

The Writer's Museum.

Vintage Edinburgh hop on hop off bus.

The Millenium Clock in the Royal National Museum.

Oh, and I went for the Pixar exhibition in the museum too. This one not free la and inside cannot take pictures some more. But I am a big Pixar fan so I willingly paid the 4.5 pounds to go in. Haha..

We dropped by the National Library to see the Miffy exhibition too. Haha.. Miffy is a character which appears on my childhood bolster and pillow cases, now belong to TSE, and I didn't know it is actually such a popular cartoon. Haha.. So my ah ma was quite hip when she chose them. Haha..

The Childhood museum. It's free!

Highlight: We CLIMBED Arthur's seat! ALL THE WAY UP!! OMG, I almost died on the way up. Considering that I did not exercise for the past, I think, almost one year and I've nua-ed SOOOOOOO MUCH over winter, this is like a super duper achievement for me. Haha.. But the view was indeed worth all the sweat.

The way up. It gets steeper and rockier as it gets higher. There's no "official" path and paths often split into several paths, forcing us to make choices which will hopefully be the best option. Thanks to my good leader, Dom, I was able to make it up to the peak safely!

And of cos, the spectacular view. You really have to be up there yourself to take in all the magnificent view before you, to feel the winds and smell the freshness of the air. Dom said that they first climbed Arthur's seat in Winter and it was wet and slippery and the winds were super strong. I think if I were there with them, I would probably have caught the wind and flown until dunno where.

I think the most beautiful thing in the the world belongs to nature. Up next, the Highlands. Most beautiful scenery to come!
