25/4/07 - 1/5/07 : London, England
Part I : The tourist attractions
All the touristy stuff for a typical Singaporean tourist in London.
The Big Ben. (And the mini Ben I found. Haha..)

A cross erected near the soldiers' museum. But the museum must pay money one so I didn't go in. As usual.

The Millenium bridge which leads to the Tate Modern museum at the end. The Tate Modern building is rather ugly and if you are wondering why, it used to be a power station. S and I went into the museum (it's free!) but were unable to appreciate most of the stuff there. Very arty kind; paintings, sculptures, installations and all those realism, impressionism, abstract expressionism and whatever.

London bridge Version 6.0 in the background. So why is London bridge falling down? Well, it has "fallen" 5 times already. Long history eh.. But it did not really fall on its own. It was destroyed or broken up on 5 separate occasions like war or to satisfy a rich man's wishes. Haha.. According to S, one rich American once bought the bridge and exported it bit by bit back to America.

The London Eye. Costs a freaking 13 pounds to go up for the few minutes. Of course I did not go up lah. Soon we'll have the Singapore Eye liao. If it's gonna be bigger than this one, then why go up when I have a better option?

The Marble Arch. Is this a tourist attraction? Actually I don't know. Haha.. It was indicated on the Japanese tourist map and it was conveniently near where I stayed. So yah..

Alright, how can a tourist possibly miss the change of guards ceremony at the world famous Buckingham Palace?

Now for the Princess of Wales. I definitely didn't get to see her but I visited the memorial fountain that was erected for her in Hyde Park. The most important thing about this fountain is actually the date it officially opened. It's not hard to guess. Just find the clues in the photos. Hehe..

And the famous symbols of London!

The Tower bridge. It is just beside the London bridge and looks a million times better.

Tower of London.

St. Paul's Cathedral. I was told that someone who wanted to challenge some records went to the top of the inside of this cathedral and jumped down with a parachute. He made it down safely but broke the tiles on the floor of the church. After that, he ran away and was only caught, I think, a year later. However, it seems that there was a law that he cannot be charged if the misdeed has passed for more than 6 months. Yup, so he got away.

The Trafalgar Square. Sounds familiar? At least, it was to me. I used to see it so often on the Monopoly board. Haha.. It's the red one. Anyway, it has been rumoured that if you stand at the square for half an hour, you would definitely meet someone you know. Well, it didn't happen to me so just interpret it yourself lah.

Yup, enough of the touristy stuff. Obviously, I wasn't too enthusiastic about these places even in my writing. Haha.. Actually I went to these places just to take photos and satisfy my readers who had not been to London. Well, I was more interested in the musicals than visiting these sites. Haha..
So, up next, the musicals and the happy time in London with the 3 "chen"s.
